Telegram channels

General workflow

To connect Telegram channels, you need to have a public channel and connect Cronly's bot as an administrator inside Telegram. After connecting Cronly's bot, you need to set the channel link from Telegram, inside Cronly.

Adding a new channel in Telegram

  1. Start Telegram. Click on the hamburger menu. Click on New channel to add a new Channel.

  2. Pick a channel name. Click on Save.

  3. For now, choose Public channel and set a Channel link. You need the Channel link in Cronly. You can change this to Private channel later on.

  4. Optional: Add team members or skip this step.

Connecting Cronly's bot in Telegram

  1. Start Telegram.

  2. Select the channel you want to connect in the left column and click the Options menu.

  3. Choose Manage channel. Inside the Manage channel menu, click Adminstrators.

  4. Click Add administrators in the bottom left. Search for CronlyBot and add our bot as administrator. You will receive the message This user is not a subscriber.... Click OK.

  5. Inside the next window, CronlyBot only needs to be able to Post messages. Click Save.

Test and connect your channel in Cronly

If you have a public channel, retrieved it's Channel link and added CronlyBot as an administrator, you can connect your channel in Cronly.

Go to More » Integration » Telegram channels » Click Add in te top right.

You are only asked for the Channel link. Click Save.

If Cronly is able to send a message to your channel, the channel will automatically be active.

Update your triggers to include the Telegram channel

If you have an active Telegram channel, the channel needs to be configured for your trigger. Go to Tools » Triggers and edit an existing trigger or add a new trigger.

Change existing Telegram channel to private / public

Only for verification we need the channel to be public. Once the channel is active, you can change the channel to private. Select your channel in the left and click the Options menu. Choose Manage channel. Inside the Manage channel menu, click Channel info.

Retrieving the channel link for an existing Telegram Channel
